ANA Highlights Statistical Snapshots

Next-level foundational principles in statistics for the Neurological Researcher.

This program is brought to you by Dr. Rohit Das of UT Southwestern and Dr. Michelle Johansen of Johns Hopkins; both are members of the ANA Education Innovation Committee. They saw a need to provide a course to equip the academic neurologist with critical statistical concepts to conduct research regardless of level or training, and/or to serve as a good reminder of things forgotten, or instruct regarding new concepts. This course was designed using a peer-leader model - the individuals selected to cover the concepts in each module are either ANA members or work closely with ANA members in their fields of expertise.

This program is comprised of the following bite-size videos.

    • Sensitivity & Specificity (~12 minutes)
      • Amber Salter, PhD, UT Southwestern
    • Essential Study Design and Statistical Concepts for the Clinician Scientist (~22 minutes)
      • Michelle Johansen, MD, PhD, Johns Hopkins University
    • Adaptive Designs (~18 minutes)
      • Scott Berry, PhD
    • Biases, Confounders, and Mediators (~17 minutes)
      • Erin Conrad, MD, MA, University of Pennsylvania
    • Linear Regression (~10 minutes)
      • DaiWai M. Olson, PhD, RN, FNCS, UT Southwestern
    • The Odds Ratio (~18 minutes)
      • Ying Xian, MD, PhD, FAHA, UT Southwestern
    • Clinical Trial Design: The Statistician's Perspective (~20 minutes)
      • Sharon Yates, PhD, Medical University of South Carolina

Following all of the modules is a quiz to allow you to claim ABPN Self Assessment CME credit. Please wait to complete the quiz/evaluation until after you have watched all videos for which you wish to claim CME. You will be able to claim up to 2.25 hours in the final evaluation - this is the value that will be displayed on your certificate. Your successful completion of this course will be automatically reported to the ABPN.
